TRY THESE WITH KIDS!


1. The Heavy Backpack

Ask: “Imagine carrying a backpack full of every time someone hurt your feelings. (you can even have kids act this out!) How would it (does it) feel to walk around like that?”


Discuss how forgiveness is like setting the backpack down — it lightens you.


2. The Crumpled Heart

Give each kid a small paper heart (or just a piece of paper is fine). Have them crumple it up tightly — this shows what happens when feelings get hurt. Then have them gently smooth the heart back out.


Ask: “Can you still see the wrinkles?” Explain: “Even when we forgive, we might still remember what happened — but forgiving helps our hearts feel smoother again.”


3. Blow It Away

Have kids close their eyes and imagine putting something they're upset about in a bubble. Have them take a deep breath in, and then blow the bubble away with their exhale. Repeat 2 more times.


Remind them: “Letting go doesn’t mean you forget — it means you’re choosing to feel better.”
